Just as if things
couldn't get any worse for the UK' s establishment after the dismissal of three
judges for viewing pornography on business computers the other day, a recent
audit of the House of Commons networks has uncovered similar misuse on 63 MP' s
machines after following up a dismissed judge's allegation of computer abuse.
Although not
necessarily all pornography, it was discovered that our members of parliament
have been playing bingo, 'hold em up poker', studying jihadist websites,
visiting adult cam sites, bidding on EBay, using the personals on Gumtree,
reading Nigella Lawson' s blog, surfing Automart and using the 'dark net' to
name a few of points of interest.
One MP has is said to
have run up a six figure sum playing bingo and having a shot on the slots on a
well known gambling site. It was also suggested that this particular MP had
attempted to pass off his spiralling debt as legitimate member's expenses.
Another MP is also said to have never been off Facebook where he has been
returning again and again to the Facebook of one Edwina Currie.
An official from the
UK' s House of Commons said the matter was being looked into but it was
becoming increasingly hard to monitor all of the computers in the buildings.
'MP' s can be a naughty bunch at times and a strongly worded email has been
sent to them advising of Parliament' s guidelines on internet usage', said
civil servant Willie Dutton-Smythe. One MP has had his internet account
suspended all together after it was unearthed that he hadn't used his PC in
over 4 years.
